Legacy Software Modernization Services
Bracket Mind, a software studio in Gujranwala, Pakistan, modernizes legacy .NET and Angular systems for businesses that cannot afford a big-bang rewrite. On one legacy .NET modernization, founder Haseeb Attaullah's work cut API response times by 60% and took deployments from 2 hours to 15 minutes. We migrate module by module while the old system keeps serving users.

Why modernize instead of rewriting from scratch?
Big-bang rewrites fail because the old system keeps changing while the new one is built. We modernize incrementally: audit first, publish a defect register, stabilize what is dangerous, then migrate module by module while the existing system keeps serving users.
For a client selling build-to-order homes, we ported the storefront from a legacy Angular app to Next.js without rewriting the backend it talked to, keeping the existing API and XML payload formats. On a multi-tenant community platform with 3,500+ commits since 2021, we upgraded the front end from Angular 17 to 20 and added an AI layer alongside the tenants already running on it, rather than through a rewrite.
Before founding the studio, founder Haseeb Attaullah worked on legacy .NET systems at Contour Software, where his database optimization and Redis caching cut API response times by 60% and new CI/CD pipelines took deployments from 2 hours to 15 minutes.
- Legacy .NET MVC to modern ASP.NET Core migration
- Angular upgrades, or ports to Next.js that keep your existing API
- Monolith decomposition into services, only where it pays for itself
- CI/CD pipelines in place before large changes begin
- Tests retrofitted around critical paths before anything moves
What about apps built with Lovable, Bolt or Cursor?
A newer kind of legacy is the AI-generated app that demos well and is quietly broken underneath. We inherited one: an FCA compliance pre-checker built as a Bolt.new prototype, with build errors silenced, live credentials committed to git and an ingest job that had reported success for months while producing nothing.
We audited it function by function, fixed the silent failures first, and it now has 250+ tests on its compliance engine. Our AI-built app rescue service covers this work in detail.

FCA Compliance Scanner
An FCA compliance pre-checker for UK financial promotions — inherited as a Bolt.new prototype that looked finished and wasn't. Now it works, and it says so when it can't.
- Rescued a Bolt.new prototype
- Severity decided in code, not by the model
- 250+ tests on the compliance engine

Questions buyers ask
When should we modernize instead of rewrite?
Modernize when the system still encodes valuable business rules and people depend on it every day. A full rewrite is justified only when the platform is genuinely unsalvageable. Our audit tells you which case you are in before you spend money on either path.
Do you modernize Angular front ends as well as .NET backends?
Yes. We upgraded a multi-tenant community platform from Angular 17 to 20, and ported a build-to-order home storefront from Angular to Next.js without rewriting its backend. On the .NET side, we migrate MVC applications to modern ASP.NET Core.
How long does a legacy .NET modernization take?
The audit and defect register come first and are short compared with the migration. The migration itself is incremental and its length depends on the size of the system, with the legacy application serving users throughout, so there is no cutover cliff. You get a written timeline with the audit, before you commit to the migration.
Will modernization actually improve performance?
It should, because modernization removes accumulated workarounds, and we measure before and after so the gain is demonstrated rather than assumed. On legacy .NET systems at Contour Software, founder Haseeb Attaullah's database optimization and Redis caching cut API response times by 60%. New CI/CD pipelines there took deployments from 2 hours to 15 minutes.
